How Quantum Metric leaped into virtual events and drew in 2,500 registrants

Founded in 2015, Quantum Metric’s Continuous Product Design platform helps organizations build better digital products faster. The company’s Events, Content and Communications team used Socialive to power its annual conference Quantum LEAP for digital product leaders on February 3-4, 2021.


Traditionally held in person, the summit brings together customers and prospects to network and hear real transformation stories from digital leaders at Fortune 1,000 brands. Using Socialive to produce a remote-first conference expanded audience reach, provided easier access to knowledge, and allowed for creative engagement opportunities as well as the creation of high-quality post-event content.

Recreating In-Person Experiences In A Virtual Environment

Due to the pandemic, Quantum Metric shifted to producing a virtual conference with the goal of fostering in-person engagement. In a world all too familiar with ‘Zoom fatigue,’ the team was well aware of how they were up against the skepticism from people who have attended poorly executed virtual events.


“We wanted to pull attendees in so they feel like their presence actively impacted the event, which is challenging in a virtual world,” says Caitlin Tucker, Senior Director of Experience Marketing, at Quantum Metric.


Zoe McCook, Quantum Metric’s Senior Director of Content and Communications, shared how important it was to have high production value, while staying true and authentic to the brand.


“We're not a big company like Cisco or Adobe,” says Caitlin. “We really wanted to put on a polished event that still felt it was ran by a high-growth early stage startup. That’s exactly who we are.”


Made up of ten team members, the small but mighty marketing team faced the daunting task of executing an educational and entertaining conference for a crowd of 2,500. The team agrees they were in need of a simple, user-friendly platform to enable them to seamlessly drive the run of show while delivering a memorable audience experience.



LEAP Reimagined Virtual Conferences With Unique Content Using Socialive

Quantum Metric partnered with Socialive as a solution to produce high-quality live and pre-recorded content delivered to Bizzabo, a virtual events platform. Most of the event was produced live to ensure speakers addressed the needs of the audience during Q&A’s.


In two days, the team broadcasted:

  • Keynotes from Quantum Metric's Founder and CEO Mario Ciabarra, who shared new opportunities in the digital economy, and Alyssa Carson, an astronaut-in-training at NASA Blueberry
  • Live entertainment from visual freestyle rap artist Harry Mack and muralist Captain Casual
  • Debates featuring two advocates presenting opposing professional opinions on a selected topic
  • Fireside chat with Bala Subramanian, Chief Digital Officer at AT&T, about his career path, role, and how to measure success
  • Multiple breakout sessions covering key topics such as digital innovation, Continuous Product Design, and the future of retail in a digital-first world

Leaning on key Socialive features such as remote video production, branded graphics, and split-screen layouts — Quantum Metric’s team took the quality of its event to the next level. With Socialive, the team can repurpose HD clips from the event — these are instantly stored in the team’s cloud-based library — and share it to social media to support its post-event content strategy.

In less than two months of working alongside Socialive, the team produced an exceptional virtual conference. Quantum LEAP generated:

  • 2,500 registrants (5x the number of attendees who would have attended in person)

  • 1,300 live attendees

  • 4.8 out of 5 average session rating

  • 70% average view length

  • Positive audience sentiment from attendees and internal stakeholders

With feedback from attendees like "Can we have LEAP every week?,” the team successfully injected their creativity to produce its first virtual LEAP conference.


Moving forward, Quantum Metric plans to not only rely on Socialive for virtual event production, but also to create short-form educational and thought leadership content to share on social media.
