Accenture is a global professional services company that specializes in information technology and management consulting services.
As a part of its suite of services, Accenture handles the production and distribution of marquee events and experiences for clients held on the Gen AI and Spatial computing platform “STAR - Spatial toolkit for Alternate Realities.” Accenture uses Socialive to remotely produce video experiences, record short-form videos, and edit clips from live events and longer recording sessions.
Amadeus is a multinational technology company that provides software for the global travel and tourism industry, and they wanted to make a big splash with the launch of its 2024 Travel Technology Investment Trends report. Amadeus, through Accenture’s solution, used Socialive to hold a press event in extended reality — serving as a proof of concept for the potential of extended reality within the travel industry.
Challenge
Building an innovative media event
The external communications team at Amadeus knew they wanted to make a splash when announcing their 2024 Travel Technology Investment Trends. They figured an innovative, tech-forward approach would attract media attention both for the industry insights and for the spectacle of a unique event.

While the goals were clear, Amadeus needed help to bring the augmented reality event to life.
As a part of its suite of consulting services, Accenture had just the solution to build an immersive experience in its STAR platform. Accenture brought members from its travel technology, gaming, 3D, and GenAI teams to build out the “Metaverse” styled environment for Amadeus, where the media members’ avatars would interact with one another. Accenture successfully built an “in-person” event that global media could join from anywhere.
However, the press conference still needed to be grounded in reality for those who might not be in the best position to dive into the immersive experience fully.

This presented the Accenture team with an issue — they needed a way to stream live speakers over a reliable connection for the hour-long conference. Previous livestream workflows required a clunky setup and manual integrations between various point solutions and meeting tools. That wasn’t going to cut it for this high-stakes media event.

Using Socialive and Virtual Show Floor for augmented reality
The combined powers of Accenture’s Virtual Show Floor and the Socialive studio provided the perfect platform to produce the event. And it all could be done within an end-to-end setup.

The behind-the-scenes production rolled smoothly thanks to the simplicity of the setup. The Accenture team managed the livestream straight from a laptop. Accenture brought in remote live speakers and guests, mixed in production elements like slides and recorded content, and sent everything into the virtual event floor.
By using the Socialive platform, it was easy for Accenture to produce the live video elements. This calmed some nerves for the Amadeus team, knowing there was an elegant solution in place for the biggest hurdle facing this captivating event.

The event went off without a hitch, much to the pleasure of both the Accenture and Amadeus teams. Accenture was able to support this massive effort in a streamlined, efficient way. The big winner was the Amadeus team, which hit its KPIs for the event.

There were also intangible wins that came from the event. For Accenture, this was a fantastic success story with their client in Amadeus. Additionally, Accenture can showcase the win across prospective consulting clients.
On the Amadeus side, the communications and marketing team took pride in pulling off the event. It was an opportunity to showcase themselves as an innovative force at Amadeus and even for the company to position itself as the leader in travel technology.
For both sides of the equation, the 2024 Travel Technology Investment Trends drove internal and external excitement about the capabilities of extended reality.
